With Co-Hosts NOVA GL Professionals, the Straight Eights Car Club, DCthirtysomething, and DC Lambda Squares!

We're doing it again - our 3rd time!  Last year, nearly 100 people joined in, and we had a blast.  It's Lazy River Tubing on the Shenandoah, near Harper's Ferry, VA.  And it IS lazy!  Just plop yourself into an inner tube, and let the current slowly carry you downstream.

We'll start wtih an optional bring-your-own picnic on the grounds of River and Trail Outfitters.  (Or order sandwiches from the cafe there.)  Then, at 2:00 pm, we'll pile into the bus for the 5-minute ride to the put-in spot.  We float for about 2 hours, depending on the current.  After tubing, there's an optional dinner at Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse in Gaithersburg.

Our co-hosts will be NOVA GL Professionals, the Straight Eights Car Club, and (new this year!) DCthirtysomething.

If you've ever gone lazy river tubing, you know what a blast it is.  And if you haven't, here's your chance to try it, while meeting LOTS of great new people.  So, blow up your water wings, break out your most stylish bathing cap, and practice your best Esther Williams moves.  We'll see you on the Shenandoah!

SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY:

- 12:00 - 1:30 pm: Picnic lunch and socializing onsite.  Bring your own, or purchase at the Blue Heron Grille on site.  (Vegetarian sandwich available)

- 1:30 pm: Get our gear for tubing

- 2:00 pm: Board shuttle bus for tubing

- Approx. 4:00 pm: Depart tubing

- Approx. 5:30 pm: Optional dinner at Bugaboo Creek Steak House (see below)

WHAT TO BRING:
BRING A COMPLETED WAIVER FORM (www.rivertrail.com/pdf/RTWaiver.pdf ). R&T Outfitters will provide a high-quality tube and life vest. You should bring water, a swim suit, a towel, sunscreen, a visor, a change of clothes, footgear to wear while in the creek, and your ticket confirmation info (if available). Lunch is available at the Blue Heron Grille snack bar (hot and cold sandwiches), or you can bring your own. You may also want to bring Ziploc bags to protect anything you bring in the water. R&T Outfitters will provide us with some cooler floats, so feel free to bring snacks for the float, but please note that ALCOHOL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED by the Park Service!

DINNER AFTER TUBING:
After tubing, we'll head to Bugaboo Creek Steak House in Gaithersburg, MD. (It's near a Metro, so drivers can drop off riders not interested in joining us for dinner.) Bugaboo Creek is at 15770 Shady Grove Road. Exit I-270 at Shady Grove Road, then turn LEFT onto Shady Grove Road, and it's the first business on your left, just before Home Depot.

- From the Washington D.C Area:
Take I-270N to Frederick. Merge with I-70W toward Hagerstown. Move to far right lane immediately. Take Exit 52 onto 340W toward Charles Town. Follow 340 for approx. 17 miles, at which point, you'll cross 2 bridges into VA and then WV. Go through the light at the Harpers Ferry Visitor centerand Harpers Ferry. Continue to the bottom of the hill, and turn left at the large Flea Market sign onto Millville Rd. (also called Bloomery Road). Go about two miles and over two sets of railroad tracks. The road will then join the river, and the River and Trail facility is there on the left.

- From the Northern Virginia Area:
Take the Greenway to Route 7W or get directly on Route 7W (Leesburg Pike) past Leesburg. Exit onto Route 9W (Charles Town Pike) toward Charles Town. Continue on Rt. 9 through the town of Hillsboro. Shortly after Hillsboro veer to the right at the fork in the road at the signal light onto Rt 681 orHarpers Ferry Rd. Follow it until it ends at the Exxon station and Rt 340. Turn Left onto 340 and go across one bridge into WV. Go through the light at the Harpers Ferry Visitor center and Harpers Ferry. - From the Baltimore Area:

You asked for it, you got it!  By popular demand, it's Mega Party Game Night 2, on Saturday, September 11, from 7:30 pm - ???  Last time, 350 people joined us - and 349 of them had a blast! 

We'll have nearly 50 board games to choose from, including some new titles.  Everything from the classics (Parcheesi, Life, Kerplunk, Stratego & Battleship) to the newer releases (Cranium WOW!, Seinfeld Clue, Snorta & Taboo).  And everyone's favorite, our CUSTOM GAY EDITION of Apples to Apples - only available here!  Or feel free to bring your own favorite.

And, with any luck (fingers crossed!), we'll even have Buzz! Trivia (with 8 special Buzz! controllers) on the PS2 this time.

Once again, it all takes place at Bailey's Pub in the Ballston Common Mall, in Arlington, with FREE admission, FREE (limited) pizza, wings, chips and salsa, FREE use of the pool tables, FREE tabletop shuffleboard, and FREE darts.  It doesn't get any cheaper than FREE!

Plus, there'll be some fabulous prizes, including an electronic, rechargable RUBIK'S TOUCHCUBE (original retail $150).

We start at 7:30 pm, but feel free to come early for dinner - the food at Bailey's is excellent.  Bailey's is in the Ballston Common Mall. 

BY CAR: The mall garage entrance is at 627 N. Glebe Road, Arlington, VA, 22203.  Parking is just $1 for the entire evening.

BY METRO:The Ballston Metro is just 2 short blocks away, and there's a covered overhead walkway, so you never have to leave the building.

You know it, you love it - our Mega Skate Night brings together LOTS of GLBTQ groups for an hour of casual ice skating, followed by a social.  We'll start out skating at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex on top of the Ballston Common Mall, then head to Bailey's Pub (in the mall, below the rink) for our social.

Skating is just $8, plus $3 for skate rental.  And once again, our good friends at Bailey's will treat us to FREE admission, FREE (limited) pizza, wings, chips and salsa, FREE use of the pool tables, FREE tabletop shuffleboard, and FREE darts.  Talk about a cheap evening's entertainment!

Glebe Road, Arlington.  After skating, we hit a local bar for a social hour.  Skating is $8 + $3 for skate rental.  Skating is from 7:45 to 8:45 pm, with a social from 9:00 pm - ???  Plenty of cheap parking in the mall - and just 2 blocks from the Ballston Metro.
